Martin Maritsch earned the prestigious ETH Zürich Medal

We are pleased to share that doctoral researcher and PhD candidate Martin Maritsch who successfully defended his PhD thesis, earned the prestigious ETH Zürich Medal for his outstanding doctoral work.

Martin’s thesis, titled “Leveraging Machine Learning to Achieve Vision Zero: In-Vehicle Hypoglycemia Detection for Drivers with Diabetes,” focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of a hypoglycemia warning system to support drivers with diabetes. His innovative system, which builds upon the HEADWIND project, aims to detect driver impairment and prevent critical situations on the road.

Details on the HEADWIND project can be found at the HEADWIND project page. During his PhD, Martin was supervised by Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch and Prof. Dr. Felix Wortmann, with Co-examiner Prof. Dr. Dietrich Manstetten from Robert Bosch GmbH.
